We love to head to the beach to take a break from our busy schedules, chill, and enjoy nature. Especially as summer goes into full blast, many of us are already planning our next nature adventure.

If you’re one who’s planning to rough it out at the beach, camping is the way to go. But with so many beaches, it’s be a bit difficult to find the ones ideal for pitching a tent. We’ve listed some of our picks that are easy to go to and/or are near Manila to help with your planning.

1.) Calaguas Island, Camarines Norte

A paradise for those who just want to soak in the sun and the beach, as well as for thrill-seekers, Calaguas Island is a bit of a drive from Manila (10 hours) but it’s well worth it. More than the postcard-worthy beach, the place features hills for trekking and cliffs for diving into the waters.

Soft sand covers the coast, making it perfect for pitching camp. It’s also great if you’re looking to disconnect and just take a breather as mobile reception and electricity are not available for the most part. The island makes up for it, though, with spectacular views all around. Cap the night off by lying on the cool sand and marveling at the starry night sky.

2. Cagbalete Island, Quezon

Unspoiled and serene, Cagbalete Island is an underrated destination in Quezon. Known for its white sand beaches and crystal blue waters, the island is just about three hours from Manila. It has a mile long sandbar and sweeping beaches so you can pitch tent fronting the waters.

You can DIY your camping experience or rent your gear from the resorts in the area. Electricity may be intermittent, so best to bring those power banks.

3. Borawan Island, Pagbilao, Quezon

When a place offers some of the best features of Boracay and Palawan, you know it’s a must-visit. That’s the case with Borawan Island in Quezon.

Featuring white sand similar to Boracay’s and limestone formations like those in Palawan, Borawan Island manages to stand out on its own. It’s a relaxing destination with palm-lined sandy shores that make it great for camping.

Compared to nearby beaches, Borawan has the most amenities for a comfortable camping experience. It has consistent running water, bathing facilities, and a clean toilet. Tent and gear rental is also available.

Nearby, there’s also Puting Buhangin and Dampalitan Island.

4. Talisayin Cove, Zambales

Rising from the ashes of the 1991 Mt Pinatubo eruption, Talisayin Cove is an ideal beach camping destination for those who don’t want to travel far. A 3-4-hour drive from Manila can bring you to a beautiful stretch of beach with off-white (almost gray) sand.

Last checked, there are no resorts in the area, so camping is the only option; don’t worry as there are tent and equipment rentals. Talisayin offers a less-crowded destination compared to neighboring Anawangin and Nagsasa.

5. Burot Beach, Batangas

A favorite among backpackers and weekend warriors, Burot Beach in Calatagan is a beach and camping destination near Manila. It offers a quiet spot where you can take things easy and just take in the beautiful surroundings.

It’s a private beach that’s open to the public, which means there are no resorts. Being a favorite of backpackers, the beach is best enjoyed when the crowd is not that thick.
